Hendricks & Lewis works with musicians, photographers, authors, publishers, artists, athletes and other creative individuals to acquire and protect their rights in intellectual property. In our experience, if artists and athletes are able to receive legal counsel early on in their careers, many potential problems can be avoided in the future. However, when this doesn’t happen, or when creative individuals receive poor legal advice, we are broadly experienced at helping them disentangle themselves from bad contracts and regain the rights to their intellectual property.

Our experience includes providing counsel and litigating and mediating disputes involving copyrights, including copyrights in pre-1972 sound recordings, publicity rights, trademarks and royalty rights. The firm is well versed with all forms of sports, entertainment, and arts contracts, including agency, publishing, recording, life-story, performer, and producer agreements. We act as general counsel for performing groups. We also evaluate and, where appropriate, litigate publicity and privacy rights issues and defamation claims.

Hendricks & Lewis also represents athletes and coaches and has a thorough background in the rules and contracts that govern college and professional sports.
